Yes, that would work. I would like to be able to have several stacks though within one game. Stacks can be used for vehicles, weapon load outs, classes, etc. All stacks need to be contained within that game though and not affect Global settings.

Yes, it would be per-Config -- the "stack" would empty if you switched to a different Config.

So whenever you go to a sub-Config, it gets pushed on the stack. As long as the hotkey/toggle state of the sub-Config is active, it keeps it's place in the stack. The active one is the one at the top of the stack. When that top one is no longer active, the next one below that one in the stack is activated.

Is this what you'd want?

Sounds good. But are you going to add ADS to subs or are you planning on adding to the stack for this?

Any sub-config will always be added to the stack. Hip will always be permanently at the bottom.

So basically you're proposing that they continue to work as is, but cascade backwards when disabled, correct?

If this is the case, are you open to adding a few more stacks? Or even better, allowing us the freedom to have more stacks with less primary's and vice versa? Or is the latter a memory/security concern?

Actually, I guess "cascading backwards" wouldn't really be the correct terminology, depending on how you look at it. Cascading to the previous sub would more accurately describe what you're saying. I really like this and it will definitely improve the experience with using subs. So Thank you for that!

I still have one other problem with subs though. Currently we have 4 subs total, not including ADS. In order to accomplish what I need out of subs with pretty much every game I play, I need to double that number.

Here's why,
Most games change things between classes, weapons and even attachments sometimes. Things like mobility, sensitivity, ADS delays (COD) and AA strength often change, which really changes the mechanics in game. Because of this, I would like to be able to use subs as follows.
- Primary Hip and ADS (used for SMG's)
- Sub HIP and ADS for AR's
- Sub HIP and ADS for Sniper
- Sub HIP and ADS for Killstreaks, Tanks, vehicles, Turrets or Sparrow's
- Sub for Flying jets/heli's/etc.
- Sub for long range jitters, allows me to alter sensitivity for optimal long range sniping.

Sure, I can make Primary configs for all of these settings. But hopefully everyone can see how fast these would add up across multiple games and the amount of GLOBAL buttons this would take away makes it very impractical and basically impossible.

This means in RML's perfect world, you would need to either Double the current amount of subs for stacking or add the option to customize subs (add or remove ADS) from each current stack.

As mentioned previously, the ultimate option would be to allow the user to determine this on their own. DO I want 10 games with 8 subs each or do I just want Hip and ADS with 30 games?

Thoughts?

Yes that is a lot of sub-confgs. Are you able to switch weapons and also the sub-Config quickly and not accidentally switch to the wrong one?

How different are you Hip settings between weapons? Aren't they the same? And for ADS how different are they between weapons? The Delay must be different, but, is that it?

If you have a common Hip and then you'd have ADS sub-configs for multiple weapon groups. The problem is that you'd need a different key for ADS which will be strange.

It seems you need multiple buttons to switch weapons (which still binds to to a single controller button to switch the weapon) but then overrides the Delay for that particular weapon. This all assumes that you don't have different settings for ADS other than Delay for various weapons.

Have you tried using multiple Configs to try that idea out? Switch to a different Config per weapon. Understood that it uses a lot of Configs, but trying to understand if it's feasible.

Yes, it's feasible to do with multiple "Primary Configs". That's what I had to do with Destiny. The problem with primaries is they effect Global settings.

That's a BIG part of my complaint here, at the end of the day this is also about saving buttons.

How about this, how about you eliminate subs altogether!  :)

Instead of subs, allow us to create "Groups of Primary's."

If I could create say 4-6 Primary configs for Battlefield, then somehow group them all together that would be ideal. So when I activate BF, it opens up a group of configs that I can manipulate without effecting any Global settings. This way I could assign the same 4-6 buttons over and over to different games. This would make it very easy to establish a common set of rules across multiple games.

For Example, it could look something like this.

1 - SMG config (Red)
2 - AR config (Blue)
3 - Sniper (Green)
4 - Long range (Yellow)
5 - Vehicle (Orange)
6 - etc, etc , etc

This is currently impossible to do with primary configs. But if we were able to group together multiple Primary's within there own block for each game, then this would be possible. This would also simplify things and you would no longer need sub configs. We could create a bunch of Primaries for just a few games and group them all together, or we could create just one primary for each game and have lots of games. It would be up to the user.

Obviously the above would mean a Manager makeover for creating blocks of configs. But other then that (as if that's not a lot to ask), all I can think of that would need to be changed is deactivation keys and Hold/Toggle behavior would need to be added to all Configs, including Hip.

XIM5 maybe?

For now, if you could update manager to cascade subs the way we discussed, that would be a BIG win! I know you have concerns with subs eating up memory. However, as I've stated before, the ideal solution IMO is to let the users decide how they want to build their configs. If you're open to discuss major makeovers to Manager for future projects, please put it out there and invite the community to offer more ideas.

I appreciate you lending an ear.

Thanks, I do think creating a stack for sub-configs would be a step in the right direction.

+1, I agree. I personally would love sub configs. Now that we have the save config setting, it's a simple restore and backuo.

This looks like what i was just trying to do while in my airplane configuration in bf1. Free look sensitivity is much higher than id like and i was trying to setup a "airplane ads" which would toggle when i held the free look key. It would lower the sensitivity, then return to "airplane hip" when finished.

Hopefully this is implemented in future builds.
