Title: Paladins Training ST
Post by: Vep on 07:39 PM - 05/08/18
Hi admins, as you may well know paladins has been fully released now and I think it may be able to be trained for an official ST. I know you have had problems in the past with finding a way to remain idle without getting kicked from a lobby. However, I tried the training mode today and Iíve been sat there idle for about 2 hours 30mins. Iím not sure how long you have been in a lobby before getting kicked but is this an improvement? I will be leaving it on all night to see if it lasts.

[UPDATE] still idle in the training session and itís been 4 hours now

Can you sit in training mode indefinitely?

I noticed this too last night. Went to grab some food with friends while sitting in training mode last night and I had not been kicked while I was out for a few hours. I was sitting in the training mode / shooting range.

Perfect, that will work. I attempted this game in February and I was only able to stay in the game's training mode for minutes, not hours. Great to hear about that change. :)

Brilliant news... at least everyone will stop pestering you about it now... I see people complaining every few days who donít understand that the game wouldnít allow an ST to be configured... as I say Iím glad itís sorted though!

Which training mode did you run? I ran training target range was not idle and was kicked out in under an hour.

Oh, the trainer would need a solo undisturbed environment. I'll try a few things.

Thanks, it's been going for a couple of hours now. I've already spent a lot of time training this game in the past and I know the look mechanic isn't great but I'm excited to finally support it. :)

Hi Vep - sorry I know this is kind of de-railing your post, but just saw that you're sick of Overwatch, and obviously wanting to play Paladins instead. As a long term Overwatch player and fan (but haven't played in a couple of months) I'm looking for something different, and I'm considering Paladins, because I get the feeling (just watching youtube videos) that many people are swapping over.
As someone coming from Overwatch, do you think Paladins is as good, or better? And why please?.....I did try Paladins when it was first available on PS4 and didn't progress with it because I found it very poorly optimised, and there was a few characters that just wrecked the game they were so OP. Has any of this changed? Many thanks in advance for the info.

Imo overwatch is better at just about everything presentation graphics general polish matchmaking balance lore hit detection.

But what makes paladins fun is the customization and the mobility the game has, lots of characters have great mobility. Character abilities are much more crazy compared to overwatch that's good and bad as balance is pretty bad in paladins.
Title: Re: Paladins Training ST
Post by: Zaknefein on 08:06 AM - 05/10/18
Mist - Weird about it kicking you out in the training mode - It was in the generic training mode that I was able to stay in..

Rocky-  OW is definitely a better polished game  -  Balance is always changing and new metas happen all the time...  If you watch the latest PPL (Paladins Premiere League) it is very entertaining and you can see that the "pro" teams can really change it up with different picks so it definitely is "close" in balance...  the best thing about the game is that in competitive play you can ban out 2 champions so you can really "win" in the drafting...  banning out counters for what you plan to play..

Zaknefein_Mizri is my psn if you want to play some and get a bit of an introduction in the game..

Title: Re: Paladins Training ST
Post by: mist4fun on 01:33 PM - 05/10/18
Zaknefein, vep figured it out. I just needed to blindly shoot a few times then the game will let you idle for as long as you like. Re training now using other game settings, I might retrain once more using different settings.

I don't know if this was mentioned or is already known but it was announced yesterday that Paladins is leaving early access.  I'm excited to give this game a legitimate shot as the only thing that was holding me back was how bad it was trying to use a Xim.  I miss what Overwatch once was and I hope this game scratches that itch for me.  Big shout out to mist for doing everything he could to work on an ST for this game and other obnoxious games to train (PUBG).

For the settings, you can try "Precision' for turn acceleration. It doesn't seem to have as much of an aim assist feel. It's mostly felt when an enemy is close. Turning off aim assist friction and aim assist magnet strength may also help  ;)

Day three? It feels like day three, I finally have optimal in-game settings that will be usable for support. I'm going to aim for paladins, dead rising 4-p4, and dreadnought support this week.

Any further word on how this training is going Mist? Really looking forward to trying this out....gave it a go yesterday using the Smite ST, as some posts suggest, but I found it completely unplayable. I even gave it a shot with the controller (so much acceleration regardless of what setting I chose), but even struggled with that - I don't envy you trying to create a solid ST for this game!

I haven't gotten anything playable certainly nothing that would make a character like kinessa viable. Mist thinks he will have a viable set up this week probably best to just wait a few more days.

fwiw i haven't been able to stand overwatch for a long time, but even though it has its issues (ex: gigantic hitboxes, which creates a lot of problems when combined w/ the bonus aim assist on console), i really enjoy paladins. assuming they're able to train out the kinks id definitely recommend giving it a shot. its best quality, and the main thing that differentiates it from tf2 or overwatch, is the card system, which afford a ton of variety in how you play

That was May 9th and Paladins did take multiple days to train due to multiple aim mode options. I'm also working on several games now, there are other games going out with Paladins. I'm sorry but I cannot provide an ETA. Support in progress and thank you for your patience.

Mist- not asking for a specific ETA here, but are you 100% certain that an official ST can be built and released ďat some pointĒ in the future?
I ask because I do not yet own a Xim but would buy one for Paladins. See I only play Paladins and Fortnite, so I want to make sure itís worth my while.
Thanks!

i think you misunderstood me, i never really played Overwatch, specially with the ST... im saying i have been trying to use the overwatch ST for paladins and it blows hard, i cannot play my cursor just jumps to either allies or enimies hugely and i cant shoot much accurately..i tried playing with aim acc, or turning off aim assist doesn't help..

thanks for the update. i have two quick questions:

1. maybe it's too early to tell, but given the complexity of all the in game settings at work, do you anticipate this game only really working with apex? or is it a safe bet to say there will be a setup that functions with xim4

2. when the ST does come out, will the optimal in-game settings get posted in this thread, or somewhere else?

thanks again

Does Detroit become human really need a St? It's an interactive movie no need for m&k support.

I'm getting anxious

You might be right about Detroit. It was added to the support list after it's reveal which didn't show a lot. I can't actually find gameplay, it looks like a cutscene simulator so it may get a pass. I'll update when I know more.

Demo already came out. It is indeed a cutscene simulator like all of cages games. No real aiming mechanic. Just selecting text and inspecting items.

State of Decay 2 is being worked on now, Detroit will be skipped due to it not having traditional gameplay. I expect this to be finished today unless there is an issue and it needs a retrain. Unfortunately I do not publish STs to Manager so I cannot provide an ETA.

Yes, it will require specific settings. The game offers three aiming modes in addition to other knob settings. The required settings will be shared when support is available.

So use smite St.

In game.

I didn't touch scope sensitivity as I do t play snipers.

X and y axis sensitivity is maxxed

Turn acceleration is classic strength is 6.

Inner dz is medium

Out dz is minimum

Aa friction is 30 (adjust to your liking)

Aa magnet is 60 (adjust to your liking)

Xim sensitivity is dependent on your mouse setting I run 250hz on xim Apex and between 3k and 4k dpi so my sensitivity is high. Again adjust to your liking. I also scooted ballistic curve over to about 24 again this is dependent on your mouse settings.

The most important factors are the in game settings though particularly the dead zones and turn acceleration.

i actually don't have an apex so i can't adjust the hz -- is that at all analogous to mouse polling rate? if so, do you find that having it higher or lower helps to offset the jitter/general funkiness of aiming? i would assume 250 is on the lower end but i have no idea really

Yes polling rate is the same thing. And yes 250 is slower I like the slow rate on all my games less jittery.

The guy who showed me is actually on xim4 as well.

It's been released, but, warning that it had to be marked with a "U" in our support list (meaning, has issues). The PS4 version actually has a lopsided deadzone which, frankly, there is no excuse to ever have. It also has time-based acceleration which is always bad (even for controller users).

Title: Re: Paladins Training ST
Post by: mist4fun on 06:48 PM - 05/26/18
(U): The developer of this game placed aspects of unpredictable or incomplete aiming-behavior within the game. Due to the popularity of this game, however, support was added. Be advised that this negatively affects aiming quality.

The aiming feels really poor with a controller. Will be interesting to see how it goes using the Xim.

Well, unfortunately the aim mechanic is wack.
Title: Re: Paladins Training ST
Post by: juxtaposn on 01:37 AM - 05/27/18
i got it working pretty well with strix, just had to max scope sens in game while lowering xim sens in an ads profile. surprisingly i've found it's better with the hip translator instead of ADS.

i'm sure it can be improved, i'll have to keep messing with it. it also doesn't really translate well to other characters -- with sha for instance i'm way overshooting things -- but that's honestly a problem i have on pc anyway

in game settings: 200/200 x/y, medium/medium dead zone, dynamic accel @ 0 strength, 0/0 friction/magnetism, 10 scope sensitivity. (BTW, it let me go past this before resetting to 10, so it's possible it's actually at 30 which is where i stopped).

mouse: 4k dpi, 1k polling. tried 500 initially as i thought itd be more "controller like" and cut down on jitters, but 1k seems better at cutting through the AA bubble, which feels ultimately more valuable (might end up raising dpi for the same reason)

xim: default hip profile @ 14 sens + ADS profile @ 5 sens, but using hip translator over ads

Scope Sensitivity: 10.0
X Axis Sensitivity: 200
Y Axis Sensitivity: 200
Turn Acceleration Mode: Dynamic
Turn Acceleration Strength: 0
Inner Deadzone Size: Medium
Outer Deadzone Size: Small
Aim Assist Friction Size: 0
Aim Assist Magnet Strength: 0-30

Xim Apex Settings:
Aim sensitivity depends on the person's mouse DPI but with polling rate, it should always be set on 1000Hz, otherwise it won't feel right.
For the settings, I use ADS translator as I feel that it works better, you are free to use hip translator.
Smoothing: 5
Y/X ratio: 1.60
Boost: 0
Ballistic Curve that I use:
>>> XIM APEX [Translate Ballistics] START COPY >>>
X5BC:AAAAygGUAl4DKAPzBL0FhwZRBxsH5QivCXkKRAsOC9gMog1sDjYPAA/KEJURXxIpEvOTvR1npxCnEKcQpxAnECcQJxAnECcQJxAnECcQJxAnECcQJxAnECcQJxAnECcQJxAnECcQ:X5BC
<<< XIM APEX END COPY <<<

With Kinessa and Strix(the snipers), use Auxiliary aim and add a delay of 150-200ms.
Aim, again depends on the person's mouse DPI and personal sensitivity preferences.
Smoothing: 5
Y/X ratio: keep it at 1.00
Boost: 2
Again, you can either use hip translator or hip translator, doesn't matter, it's up to you.
Ballistic curve is the same as the hip settings.

My settings

Boost: 2

Latest firmware for the Apex doesn't use boost. Also, with a value of 2 in boost you would not notice a difference.

Boost has been bugged on APEX since launch, if you're using 2 boost with APEX you are using an outdated firmware and boost isn't actually doing anything. I recommend updating.

You can find the latest firmware below. Please read the instructions on the download page.
