Title: Let us know if you see Purple Lights
Post by: OBsIV on 04:32 PM - 01/10/16
We've seen a couple of reports of flashing purple lights with 20160104 and 2 have responded so far that they are using a CM/T1.

20160104 will notify you if it is seeing "off" USB timing from the console. In one of the XIM4 traces we looked at (where a CM+ was in use), showed the "console" host (in this case, CM) jittered on average +/- 30us but was off by 2000us for a period of time. XIM4 recovers in these cases, but, this would cause purple lights that were reported. CM+ looked like it stabilized itself though, over time.

If you see flashing purple lights, and you are NOT using your XIM4 with a CM/T1, please reply to this thread.

Just want to clarify, does the purple light look like this?
Happen to me but just blinking on & off once the keyboard n mouse button push together, but both of it still can use normal in games.

Sorry, I updated the original post. It needs to be flashing purple lights.

Are you using a CM or T1 with your XIM4?

No, sorry, a CronusMax or TitanOne connected between your XIM4 and console.

If not, can you grab a trace and send it to me. Instructions are here: http://cloud.xim4.com/Debug/XIM4TraceLog.pdf

Have the trace page open in Manager and after the purple flashes happens, copy it out and send it to: obsiv@xim4.com

I just got home from work and the purple lights were flashing. I left at 1pm my time and left the system in rest mode. I got home now at 7:40 pm. My guess is that extended periods of use with no purpose (not playing games) the XIM shuts all functions off.

Hi,

Although I am a new user regarding the XIM4, I do have experience with other Console peripherals and configuring them. Must say the XIM4 is the most versatile and customizable of them all, just WOW.

That said, on topic:
I was trying out the XIM4 with the 20160104 Firmware and I got a lot of purple lights when configuring the device. Some mouse buttons would not even register, it would just give me purple lights and leave the button unassigned. Also during playing using the default config for the game, it gave me a lot of purple lights and some buttons would just not do anything.

Setup:
- PS3
- RAT9
- Flexiglow CyberSnipa
- Game: Uncharted 3

I had to revert back to fw XIM4Flash-20151120 to be able to configure and play.

Welcome to the community. The purple lights is a PS3 issue. I will PM you a private build that we believe fixes the problem. If you can try it and let us know it would help a lot.

Concerning dropped input, 20160104 is identical to 20151120 so I'm surprised you wouldn't experience that on there.

Been running the latest RC for almost a week now playing daily up to 8 Hours ( yeah yeah blame me for having holidays :D ) No purple lights so far on the ps4. Attached to my Xim is a G13 keypad and a G502 mouse, and ofc the controller.

Hello, just recently updated to the latest firmware a couple days ago and now I'm getting the purple flash constantly, it was working fine with the previous version, I've never updated my XIM4 since I bought it, possible it had a 2015 firmware..

I am using a CronusMax+XIM4 combo. would that be an issue with compatibility?
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights on 20160104
Post by: mist4fun on 12:04 PM - 01/21/16
Yes, that is likely why you are receiving purple flashes. If you continue to have these flashes without using a CM or T1 then we would need to hear about that.

Yes, CM/T1 cause timing problems with XIM4 with this latest firmware. T1 developer is aware of it and is fixing it.

That is great to know that its being looked at and investigated. XIM4 works perfectly on its own. I'll just need to wait for an update/fix till I can use the CM again, the latest firmware feels more responsive and smooth btw.

Awesome job on the support guys. Keep it up. Thanks a lot.

J2K has fixed the T1 / Xim4 issue, but is adding a few more fixes to the next firmware drop before it's released.

CM users will probably have to wait until those pricks hack the T1's firmware to steal the Xim4 compatibility code. Sucks to be you.

I just got these purple flashing lights for the second time now. Additionally, the xim has been acting sluggish. I bought a new one thinking it was sluggish from being faulty, but now its happening to this one as well. I'm wondering if its an issue with a usb port on the xbox 360 or if the xim is not receiving enough power. I have now replaced the xbox 360, The HDMI cable, the monitor, both the keyboard and mouse, storage, and ethernet cable. I've run out of things to replace.

How frequently does it happen? Are the purple lights happening all the time, or, occasionally?

Did you just send me a trace log? If so, I see that XIM4 is prepared an input report for your X360 but it never took it. Typically this happens on the X360 when its busy doing things like loading games. But, I've never seen it outside of that. Are you seeing this in-game?
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights

Yes. 98% of the log I sent you was me playing a game of free for all in MW3.
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights
Post by: OBsIV on 11:52 PM - 02/14/16
When it happens, do you notice anything like the game pausing for a second as it loads or general drive (HDD/optical) activity when the purple light happens?
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights
Post by: Cr0n1c_707 on 12:56 AM - 02/15/16
I haven't really noticed the game pausing. It just starts to feel really sluggish, almost as if Im wading through pudding. As for hdd activity, im using a 7200 rpm 1TB external drive which the xbox reads as an external usb storage. That thing is always blinking a mile a minute, so im not too sure about that either. Ill have to watch it.
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights
Post by: OBsIV on 10:49 AM - 02/15/16
If you have that sluggish feeling and you aren't seeing purple lights at the time then it isn't affecting your XIM4. Meaning, if you pick up your controller there is a very high chance you'll feel it while you are using that as well. It sounds like perhaps frames are being dropped or network problems in the game.
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights
Post by: Cr0n1c_707 on 01:12 PM - 02/15/16
I was always curious about that. So, if Im experiencing lag in my game, does that translate to how the controller will react? If so, thats pretty ridiculous. I understand it's the 360's fault, not the xim's, but all the same, its so @#$% variable that my muscle memory never fully forms because I constantly have to readjust. I see all of these videos on here where people can perform incredibly crisp and precise movements, whereas Im stuck having to adjust every time. Some games feel excellent, other games feel like Im fighting myself. And this is all on one night. Granted, I have a 4 KD in MW3 and a 5 KD in Black Ops 2. I just cant help but feel as though it could be even better...

Side note: Why did unplugging and plugging the xim edge back in actually improve the aiming fidelity immensely? I mean, it would literally be night and day improvements.

Post by: OBsIV on 04:08 PM - 02/15/16
What games do you get this feeling in?

I remember personally Halo on 360 in Firefight mode was so bad with framerate dips that it was unplayable. Not so in regular multiplayer though.
Title: Re: Let us know if you see Purple Lights

Yes, when it's happening, if it's the extreme as you are stating, then simply trying a quick aiming test with the controller you should be feeling it.

Hi, I'm using XIM4 Manager/Firmware 20160405, with Titan One and seeing purple lights constantly.  The issue is diff caused by Titan One as it does not occur with T1 connected.

Update to the latest T1 firmware and tweak settings in GTuner to improve support for the Xim.

GTuner > Options > Device -

Disable everything with the exception of Protocol = Automatic.

I still get occasional purple lights, but it never affects gameplay. As long as the purple lights stop constantly flashing, they're safe to ignore.

A quick follow-up FYI for Titan One users.

Since disabling "Enable PS4 partial crossover support" in Gtuner > Options > Titan One a month ago, I haven't had a purple light since.

This is in addition to disabling everything in Gtuner > Options > Device, except Protocol = Automatic. Slot Recall is fine to leave enabled.

Let the Xim4 handle all that USB protocol stuff. And there's no need for the T1 to reauthenticate the DualShock 4 when it's perma-connected.

I'm now getting Purple Flashing lights, I have the most current firmware update... please advise.

In addition, here are my periphs: G502 Mouse, G910 KB. It seems I get the purple flashing sequence about once every few days. It started ~2 weeks ago(from the date of this post). I can still connect to my XIM4 via PC and IOS apps. Additionally, based on the lights..it appears that I can change the game profile. Mouse and KB just quit responding. If you need anything from me to help solve this issue, be glad to help anyway I can.

I seem to get purple lights occasionally when using the standard PS4 T1 + Xim, reconnecting the T1/Xim fixes it but can take 20 seconds or so to get back into the game. When the purple lights occur I have no control of controller or m/kb. So far I have disabled all GTuner speed up options, running latest Xim4 and T1 firmware, removed battery from DS4 controller, tried a different USB cable from controller to Xim4, plugged m/kb into a powered USB 2.0 hub. So far the issue still occurs and haven't been able to pinpoint the cause aside from the fact the it only happens with the T1 + Xim combo.

Are you seeing purple lights using the new firmware? If so it's usually and attached device or cable. Remove the t1 during troubleshooting. Remove extensions or hubs. If it continues under these conditions then you can use process of elimination by swapping peripherals or cables to find the cause.

What peripherals are you using?

My xim4 just recently flashed  purple lights a few times. It worked great yesterday but today everything is hooked up fine an it's breathing red but my keyboard will not work.. Welcome to the community. Purple lights means there are timing issues and the fact that your keyboard is now starting not to work makes me believe it's related. Do you have another keyboard you can try to help isolate the issue? Also, it may be best to start a new thread in the Support section so we can help you better.

At the moment I don't have another keyboard, unfortunately. But it wasn't only my keyboard my mouse wouldn't work either. Both were showing signs of power, lighting, and the app was reading them. I did try to start a thread in the support section.

Do you have your console communication method set to USB instead of bluetooth?

Settings > Devices > Controllers > Communication Method

Do either your mouse or keyboard work?

Do you have a slim or pro controller? Note the light bar position in this picture.

Can you share your firmware version number found in menu-about?

After sharing the version number disconnect XIM4 then reconnect with nothing attached, add peripherals one at a time in this order: controller, mouse, nav. At which point do you see flashing purple lights?

I can't tell if I am seeing purple or pink.  If I go by the colors on the COD config if I scroll through those it matches pink pink not purple.  I have a T2 with the latest firmware and gtuner.  I didn't notice it until recently, we had a few updates back to back and now my Xim4 flashes the entire game and performance seems to get ghosty. Feels like sometimes boost or profile is in effect and sometimes not maybe?  I have reformatted the T2 SD, I have reprogrammed the T2, I have reflashed the Xim4.  I have tried it with one script, no script, and it does NOT happen with the T2 out of the loop.

Manager version:  4.00.2016405
Firmware version: 4.00.20171004

I believe it may be normal to see purple lights and degraded performance with a titan or cronus device attached. All you can do is make sure each device firmware is up to date I believe. If performance degradation continues then remove extra devices.

What if they are pink?  I have looked at the purple lights that the Xim4 is capable of displaying and what I am seeing isn't purple but pink.  I've read a few post about white lights appearing pink... could this explain the degradation I am feeling in performance?

There is no pink light code. Some users will report pink lights when white lights occur instead. This would indicate a freeze or crash.

I took pictures with my phone to compare side by side pink to purple form the profile selection colors and yes you are correct it is purple.

My Xim4 has just barely started with the flashing purple lights. I just recieved the Xim4 about a week ago and updated the xim at that time with the latest firmware then also.
I'm playing on the PS4

Mouse - Logitech G Pro 12000dpi
Keyboard - Razer Orbweaver

I had set all the lightings on the 2 devices off and set the game's controller vibrations off and have been playing perfectly ever since I've got the Xim.
